Other Services
Kindred Hospital uses an interdisciplinary team approach to care that helps our patients return to the highest quality of life possible. In addition to our core services, we offer:
Advanced Nutrition
When illness or surgery adversely affects a patient’s stomach or digestive system, we administer medication and nutrition through a PICC (peripherally inserted central catheter) or a PEG (percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy) until the patient recovers.
Brain Injury
Brain injuries can be as sudden as they are devastating. Our interdisciplinary approach to caring for patients with brain injuries includes all aspects of rehabilitation and recovery.
Diagnostic Imaging
Skilled and certified technicians operate our imaging equipment, and we make every effort to perform the testing in as prompt and as convenient a manner as possible.
Direct Admission
For your convenience, our hospital accepts direct admissions from physician offices, Nursing Homes and Emergency Rooms.
Pulmonary Rehab
The aim of our pulmonary rehab team is to determine your capacity for respiratory recovery and then help you reach your fullest level of function. Our rehab regimen includes testing, education, breathing retraining and nutritional counseling.
Medically Complex Care/Acute Rehabilitation
The Medically Complex/Acute Rehabilitation Program is suited for patients who have completed their acute hospital stay but still require acute care services. This program specializes in pulmonary and acute rehabilitation with the goal of transitioning patients to a less intensive level of care. Services include: ventilator support/weaning, TBI, spinal cord, stroke, orthopedic, amputee, wound management and hemodialysis.
Physicians
Your clinical treatment is the chief responsibility of your physician. As a member of the medical staff, your physician makes the necessary arrangements for laboratory services, X-rays, medications, special diets and any other treatment or service.
All physicians admitted to the medical staff are graduates of recognized schools of medicine and hold a current state license. They represent a wide range of specialties, are board certified and many have subspecialty board certification. Specialties represented at Kindred Hospital Park View include pulmonary disease, nephrology, cardiology, geriatrics, neurology, oncology/hematology, podiatry, infectious diseases, psychiatry, physiatry and OB/GYN.
Nursing
Nursing services are provided around the clock to meet each patient’s unique needs. Through the Department of Nursing, care plans are created in conjunction with physicians, therapists and specialists in other disciplines.
Respiratory Therapists
Under the direction of the medical staff, our team of respiratory therapists work around the clock to evaluate, treat and manage patients with cardiopulmonary problems. They also provide preventive care.
Surgical Services
If necessary, for some specialty procedures, patients may be transferred to another facility.
Laboratory
Operating under the direction of a physician, the laboratory is responsible for conducting any tests that are ordered. Our advanced equipment performs tests accurately and quickly, with results available on the same day whenever possible.
Pharmacy
An integral part of the patient care team is our staff of licensed pharmacists. They prepare medications and provide special dietary supplements necessary for proper nutrition.
Food Services and Nutrition Support
The goal of our dietitian is to strive to meet your nutritional needs and prepare diets as ordered by your physician. The dietitian also performs periodic nutritional assessments and monitors your nutrition plan. Please make the dietitian aware of your food preferences and any food allergies you may have.
Recreational Therapy
Provided by a Recreational Therapist, the primary goal is to improve functioning and independence as well as reduce or eliminate the effects of illness or disability. The therapist also provides recreation resources and opportunities to improve health and well being.
Case Management
The Case Manager coordinates the progress of your treatment plan and facilitates the timing of discharge. A wide range of social services – including counseling, discharge planning, referrals to community agencies and securing medical equipment for home use – is provided. Family members are also invited to take part in counseling.
Chaplain Services
Through collaboration with the Hospital Chaplain Program at Baystate Medical Center a Hospital Chaplain is on staff. The hospital Chaplain is available to meet with individuals of all faiths or of no specific faith to offer support to patients and families. In addition they will coordinate communication with community ministers, priest and rabbis as needed. There are two chapels in the south building on the first floor, one is specifically designated as an interfaith chapel. All are welcome.
